Rubriken är ”Maeve Boothby O’Neill died because of a discredited view of ME. How was this allowed to happen?”

”This story is one of the most disturbing I’ve ever covered. It’s about how the views of a deeply weird ideological sect affected science, medicine and the media, with devastating impacts on patients. Please read and pass on. This horror has to stop.”

”Hello George!

I want to thank you for your article in today’s The Guardian about Maeve and the BPS lobby. It is highly relevant for us in Sweden as well. Unfortunately.

Here, the development is moving backwards, and the National Board of Health and Welfare has recently published national guidelines for post-infectious diseases (including ME and post-COVID) that are based on BPS, downplaying (disregarding) PEM and recommending gradually increasing activity.

I would be extremely grateful if you would look into the situation. Swedish media is practically silent on this, and we are in desperate need of external attention to influence the situation. I am severely ill myself but manage to write in my adapted format, so I blog and have a podcast, Maran. The second season of the podcast describes the situation in Sweden right now and how it can be linked to the BPS narrative. My script with sources is on the blog; perhaps you could use some auto-translation from Swedish?”
